The Northwest Evaluation Association (NWEA) is currently recruiting for a Content Specialist – English and Language Arts with Bilingual ESL/ELL Focus. This position would report to the Content and Design Manager, and will be located in a Remote Home Office.
This is a professional-level position responsible for assisting NWEA staff, school districts, and/or clients with staying up-to-date on the latest developments and research in the assigned subject area, planning for and leading item writing workshops and/or trainings, monitoring all current items in the NWEA item banks for content validity, bias and sensitivity, and grade-level appropriateness, etc. Content Specialists ensure quality alignment of items and design test reporting structures consistent with client curriculum and/or standards for computerized Measures of Academic Progress (MAP), Achievement Level Tests (ALT), and other custom tests designed for clients.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Writing, Language Arts, Education or a related field required; advanced degree preferred
- Training in ESL or ELL pedagogy/protocols required
- Minimum of five years classroom teaching/school or district administration required, some of which must have been with English language learners
- Fluent speaker and writer of Spanish and knowledgeable about different Spanish language communities in the United States
- Understanding of instructional issues for a variety of cultural and linguistic groups
- Expertise and experience in teaching English/Language Arts and/or national standards/curricula in English Language Arts required
- Experience as a district or state-level curriculum/content specialist preferred
- Experience in item writing and assessment preferred
NWEA offers a competitive salary range of $68,500 to $83,950 and a generous benefits package which includes:
