Small Austin-based IT company seeks a Cisco Engineer needed for a consulting job lasting at least 6 months. This would be a mid to high level Cisco engineer that would be expected to do an analysis, plan for changes, and implement those changes according to industry standards. It is VERY important that this candidate be team-oriented. Candidates looking for an immediate hire are more than welcome.

Overall Requirements
This particular environment consists of multiple branches with two datacenters using an MPLS WAN environment. This job would include the following:
- Assessment of the current network environment to ensure that routing and switching is setup correctly.
- Must have very good troubleshooting skills in a fairly complex networking environment
- Monitoring network traffic to ensure there are no bottle-necks in the network.
- Maintaining and monitoring the MPLS network.
- Day to day operational maintenance and changes of the perimeter firewall rules
- Setup and configuration of new branch networks
- Design of standard template loads for all Cisco network devices
- Creation of standards documentation
Technical Requirements
Looking for a candidate with at least a CCNA. If candidate is heavy on experience, then certifications towards a CCNP are not required. If the candidate only has moderate experience, at least two certifications towards their CCNP certification is a must. During the interview, candidates must be able to communicate their knowledge regarding Cisco internetworking and multi-layer switching capabilities. The candidate must have actual experience with the following:
Essential Equipment and Software Skills
- OSPF
- MPLS
- Cisco ASA
- Cisco 6509 Switch
- Cisco VNP
- QOS (NetQOS experience a big plus!)
- Wireshark
- NAT
Non-Essential
- Some Microsoft systems knowledge experience a bonus.

Personal Skills
This candidate should be able to communicate very well both verbally as well as through digital means such as e-mail. Outages, issues, and updates should all be performed in a very professional manner.
Travel Requirements
At least 50% of the time would be spent on-site at a location approximately 1 hour from Austin with occasional trips to corporate headquarters which is approximately a 3 hour drive. Telecommunication from Austin would be allowed.

Representative Principal Duties and Responsibilities -
Provide technical solutions and direction on adoption and implementation of IT infrastructure

Acts as IT subject matter expert and assist HCMS functional management in the planning and implementation of client IT deliverables.
Partners with IT Project Management Office in the development and monitoring of IT schedules and deliverables, including the tracking of all funds associated with the contract, program, and project.
Ensures applicable IT service/operating procedures and practices are in compliance with industry standards and relevant regulations/laws.
· Perform review and analysis during the selection of tools or vendors from key technology requirements.
Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) to business, operations and technology teams on technology topics
· Facilitate strong communication stream with business, operations and technology team members
Manage individual workload and deliver to agreed upon project milestones
Education and Typical Years of Experience –
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field of Information Technology, and 7+ years of job-related experience.
